Storage controllers (RAID/HBA) — Description

RAID and HBA controllers are expansion cards that connect drives to a server or computer and can combine them into arrays with data protection. When choosing one, look at the supported interfaces (SATA, SAS, NVMe), RAID levels, port count and whether you need cache with protection against power loss. Compatibility with the motherboard and operating system matters as well. The section currently holds just one item — a Broadcom (LSI) CacheVault cache protection module for 9460 and 9480 series controllers — so the choice is very limited.
